Worked Example: Shrewsbury Prototype

Scenario: Repairing a fractured ceramic pressure vessel with 22k gold-copper alloy.
Given: μ = 38 GPa, A = 23.5 mm², k = 1.2 (moderate interlock)

Computation:
Fc = 38 × 10⁹ Pa × 23.5 × 10⁻⁶ m² × 1.2
Fc = 1.069 × 10⁶ N = 1.07 MN

Result: Seam withstands 109 tonnes before shear failure.
